A Masterplan for Pirotan Island

West 8 is proud to announce the development of a masterplan for Pirotan Island. Gujarat Forest Department, Office of Additional/Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board (GIDB) assigned West 8 and its partner SPECTRUM Techno Consultants Pvt Ltd with the development to preserve and enhance the existing qualities of the Island into an ecological destination. The plan offers a rare chance in India to promote environmentally conscious projects.

About the project:
Pirotan Island is an island in the Gulf of Kutch, along the coastline of the State of Gujarat, India. Though a small island, spanning 100 ha, Pirotan is known for its rich and unique marine ecosystem including mangroves, coral reefs, and a wide range of fish and bird species. The development of a masterplan will seek to address the various environmental threats that Pirotan is facing. Within the context of the Marine National Park, Pirotan has the potential to play a role in education, environmental awareness, and public participation.

West 8 will work in partnership with SPECTRUM Techno Consultants Pvt Ltd, together with a diverse group of experts, government agencies, and stakeholders to create a holistic and interdisciplinary strategy for the development of Pirotan Island. West 8 will bring its expertise concerning ecologically rich environments and coastal landscapes to the project. The team will consist of specialists in fields such as logistics, ecology, economics, sociology, tourism, and sustainability to ensure a sustainable and prosperous outcome for the island.
