The renowned AIA Institute Awards are awarded annually to recognized individuals and organizations for their outstanding achievements in architecture. The Award for Regional and Urban Design specifically focus on the distinctive role of architects in city planning, urban design and community development.
West 8 worked very closely with Gehry Partners LLP and Hines Interest Limited Partners to transform this 2.5 acre, former parking lot into a world class, urban park and cultural public space in the heart of downtown Miami Beach. Adjacent to the New World Symphony Building, West 8 created a soft, intimate, green public space that seamlessly functions day and night as a special gathering place for cultural events. The high quality sound system and the projection tower placed in the park allow for open air, free cultural events that are accessible to everyone. Together with the pergolas covered with blooming bougainvillea vines alongside the edges of the park, the public space offers its visitor a small oasis inside a bustling city.
