Gebiedsvisie for Noorderkwartier Zwolle released

Met trots delen wij de gebiedsvisie voor het Noorderkwartier in Zwolle: een uitbreiding van de Zwolse binnenstad naar het noorden.
West 8 heeft het afgelopen jaar intensief samengewerkt met bewoners, ondernemers, woningcorporaties en culturele instellingen uit de stad, in opdracht van en in samenwerking met de Eigenarencoalitie Noorderkwartier om tot deze visie te komen.

West 8 heeft de gebiedsvisie opgesteld, samen met bewoners, ondernemers, woningcorporaties en culturele instellingen uit de stad, in opdracht van en in samenwerking met de Eigenarencoalitie Noorderkwartier. De Eigenarencoalitie Noorderkwartier is een samenwerkingsverband dat het Noorderkwartier ontwikkelt. De coalitie bestaat uit: Gemeente Zwolle, Rijksvastgoedbedrijf, VanWonen, DLH Ontwikkeling (VolkerWessels) en Lenferink.


West 8 are proud to share the area vision for the Noorderkwartier in Zwolle: an extension of Zwolle’s city centre to the north. Over the past year, West 8 has worked intensively with residents, entrepreneurs, housing corporations and cultural institutions from the city, commissioned by and in collaboration with the Noorderkwartier Owners’ Coalition to arrive at this vision.

About the vision document:
Noorderkwartier will be a city district with about 700 new homes and plenty of space for employment and amenities: catering, education and culture. With the goal of regenerating and healing the city fabric, the vision plan for Noorderkwartier will connect the Dieze-West district with the city centre by highlighting existing buildings and new construction. The Diezerpoort shopping centre will have a more open appearance and a better connection with its surroundings. On Noordereiland, where the current car park is located, a neighbourhood will be created that fits in well with the rest of the historical city centre. The Noorderkwartier will be as green and car-free as possible, with the new Singelpark at its heart. A new walking bridge will be built here, an important link in the walking routes between the historic city centre and the Noorderkwartier. The vision document strengthens the performing arts in the area; identifying a cultural square or city stage behind the Tax and Customs Administration building. From next year, the plan will offer space for creativity and neighbourhood initiatives that bring life to the area.

West 8 drafted the area vision, together with residents, entrepreneurs, housing corporations and cultural institutions from the city, on behalf of and in cooperation with the Owners’ Coalition Noorderkwartier. The Owners’ Coalition Noorderkwartier is a partnership developing the Noorderkwartier. The coalition consists of: Municipality of Zwolle, Rijksvastgoedbedrijf, VanWonen, DLH Ontwikkeling (VolkerWessels) and Lenferink.
