Adriaan Geuze keynote speaker at IABR-2016 Sustainable Urban Delta’s Conference

On Monday May 9th, the international conference SUSTAINABLE URBAN DELTAS, as park of the IABR -2016, calls together professionals from all over the world who share a commitment to make tomorrow’s urban deltas more inclusive, sustainable, productive, and livable for all citizens.

a.o. Adriaan Geuze, Director of West 8, and curator of the 2nd IABR, The Flood, will deliver a keynote address along with Maarten Hajer (chief curator IABR–2016–THE NEXT ECONOMY) and Edgar Pieterse (director African Centre for Cities, University of Cape Town).Master of Ceremonies is Henk Ovink (Dutch Special Envoy for International Water Affairs).

The day long program also includes break-out sessions by a.o. Matthijs Bouw (One Architecture), Eric Frijters (.FABRIC) en Joachim Declerck (director Architecture Workroom Brussels).

The keynote presentations by internationally prominent experts and in-depth break-out sessions will elaborate on successful and innovative best practices from different parts of the world, with a focus on the need for both socially and physically more resilient cities.

In the face of rapid and ongoing urbanization, the urban landscape is put under enormous stress, and urban deltas are among the most vulnerable areas in the world. The conference will explore how we can make future deltas inclusive, sustainable productive, resilient, and livable for everyone. It will question, how this complex challenge will affect the workplace? How we can transform ideas, recommendations, and policy into alliances, programs, and projects? What new strategies, methods, and development models can effectively contribute to these major transitions?

SUSTAINABLE URBAN DELTAS invites professionals to participate and contribute to cutting edge solutions, and to be inspired by realized projects.
