Jubilee Gardens is on schedule for 2012
Plans to transform Jubilee Gardens on London’s South Bank in time for both the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games have made a leap forward, following the announcement of Frost Landscape Construction as the preferred bidder for the contract.
Lambeth Council granted planning approval for the park in December 2010, giving the green light to plans to transform this high-profile open space into a new green landmark for London. Jubilee Gardens will become a lush, green park, with sweeping lawns, traditional English park tree plantings and flower beds of the highest quality. Access to and through the park is provided by flowing granite pathways with gentle grades and generous seating edges.
West 8 has worked on the project for more than a decade; winning design competitions in 2000 and 2002 and gaining previous planning consent in 2006. Subject to the final stages of the procurement process it is expected that construction work will start on site in September with Practical Completion scheduled for May 2012.
