Madrid Rio wins I premios Arquitectura con Eñe Award

Madrid Rio has been awarded the I premios Arquitectura con Eñe in the Designing with Stone category. The project was accredited as best public space project for its use of Spanish stone.

The city of Madrid dug 43 kilometres of tunnels into which the exit routes and motorways of the six-kilometre section along the River Manzanares disappeared. West 8, working together with Burgos & Garrido Arquitectos Asociados, Porras La Casta Arquitectos and Rubio & Álvarez-Sala, designed the master plan for the reclaimed riverbanks and the new urban area.

Arquitectura con Eñe is a major event in Madrid targeting the building industry and promoting the interaction between architects and companies that develop constructive solutions.

The fourteen winning projects were valued for their architectural design, adequacy, implementation and application, respect for the environment as well as their effi ciency, energy and global sustainability.
