
Madrid RIO selected for the XIII Spanish Architecture and Urbanism Biennale Award
On 7th March, Madrid RIO [Burgos & Garrido | Porras La Casta | Rubio & A-Sala | West 8] was announced as one of the award projects in the XIII edition of Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism. The Jury meeting commenced on 11th and 12th February in Madrid. Amongst the 449 presented works, 22 proposals are selected as award projects. According to the jury, the awarded projects show different attitudes on how the issues of equity, city and landscape can be successfully dealt with. These projects demonstrate successful and innovative solutions, contribute to improving the urban and landscape environments where they are located, and implement sound solutions that address site challenges with the available resources. According to the jury these projects have become testimonies of their time.
The organisation committee of the XIII Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism includes the Spanish Minister of Public Works, Dña. Ana Maria Pastor Julian, President of Architecture, Housing and Landuse D. Juan Van-Halen Rodríguez, President of the Superior Council of Architects D. Jordi Ludevid i Anglada. In addition to the 22 awarded projects there are 101 projects being displayed in the XIII Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism in Madrid. The projects selected for the Biennial reflect the changing cultural and social processes which Spanish architecture is responding to, and emphasizing.
