A catalogue of bridges with unique detailing connecting the many spaces in Maximapark.
The Lily Pond within Máximapark is spanned by an iconic arched bridge. It’s elegant curvature turns the bridge into an elevated icon which overlooks a large part of the Park. The bridge connects the strip of beech trees that extend from the north to the south side of the “Het Lint’’ – a 6m wide multi-use recreational asphalt path that loops around the entire park.
The Lily pond bridge features a modular system of cast aluminium panels with an abstract daisy ornamentation. A central motif within the park, the daisy pattern also features in the precast edging and is used to demarcate the bicycle and pedestrian pathways. The bridge’s concrete edge elements form an extension of the concrete retaining straps ensuring the landing of the bridge connects seamlessly with the surrounding natural environment.
The five Ribbon Bridges in 'Het Binnenhof' of the park are thin steel bridges with a railing- its precast aluminum panels share the modular daisy motif with the Lily Pond bridge.

The Japanese Bridges, which connect the secondary wood chip paths in the 'Binnenhof' are a reinterpretation of traditional bridges painted by Hiroshige and found in the collections of the Nihonbashi Museum, Japan. Vincent van Gogh admired these paintings so much that he made copies of some of them. The solid form and simple elegant configuration of the three bridges complement the natural surroundings of the park. The wooden bridges were constructed by the Bouwloods Utrecht Foundation - which offers opportunities for individuals who have been disconnected from the labor market for a variety of reasons.
Unlike the other bridge typologies within Máximapark, The Acorn Bridge features steel handrails finished in a deep forest green colour.
This bridge can be found in three locations throughout the park and supports both pedestrians and vehicles.
The bridge is named for its repeated acorn motif, that is cleverly designed so that the pattern is not recognizable until after you pass by the structure. Adding a three dimensional element to the bridge volume.
