Summer Garden Party at Jubilee Gardens

On the 14th of June, West 8 were delighted to attend the Jubilee Gardens Trust’s Summer Garden Party. The event included speeches by Ted Inmann, Chair of the Jubilee Gardens Trust, highlighting the outstanding work of the Trust and sharing the exciting future developments of the gardens, His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester, Florence Eshalomi MP, and Leader of Lambeth Council Cllr Claire Holland.

In addition to Trust members, local residents, businesses, and supporters of the gardens, the event was also attended by HM Deputy Lieutenant for Lambeth Christopher Wellbelove and Mayor of Lambeth Cllr Sarbaz Barznji. West 8 was represented by Partner Christian Dobrick, and team leader Shelley Long. Since opening in 2012, the gardens have remined a vitally important green space at the heart of London’s South Bank community.

About the project:
The reimagined Jubilee Gardens were opened over ten years ago in time for Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 Summer Olympics. First created to celebrate The Queen’s Silver Jubilee in 1977, the reimagining transformed the gardens from a former flat site into a soft, green and sustainable landscape of the highest quality. Slightly elevated from street level, Jubilee Gardens remains a lush, timeless and welcoming garden for the South Bank, with gently sloping topography and elegant granite edges. In 2021, the park won a prestigious Green Flag award, recognizing it as a well-managed park with high standards for horticulture, safety, and environmental management and honouring the hard work of staff and volunteer trustees. West 8 is currently designing the Jubilee Gardens Extension for Braeburn Estates, which aims to seamlessly continue the existing design language onto the existing Hungerford Car Park and will increase the park area by 40%.
