Met trots delen wij het toekomstperspectief voor ’t Zoet: een uniek levendig stadsdeel aan de Mark als onderdeel van de Bredase binnenstad. West 8 heeft de afgelopen twee jaar met Gemeente Breda, Provincie Noord-Brabant en Waterschap Brabantse Delta intensief samengewerkt aan de toekomst van het voormalige CSM-terrein en Haveneiland.
‘t Zoet is geen blauwdruk, maar een robuust raamwerk, welke gefaseerd ontwikkeld kan worden en meebeweegt met de dynamiek van Breda. Dit raamwerk bestaat uit diverse stedenbouwkundige assen, welke het gebied verankeren in de stad, door barrières te slechten en de verbinding met omliggende wijken, de binnenstad en het station, tot stand brengen. Een nieuw groenblauw netwerk met unieke Stadsgrienden accentueren het zicht op de Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk, welke symbool staat voor Breda. De Linkeroever Promenade leidt langs het nieuwe waterfront aan de Mark met dynamische plekken, zoals het Suikerplein en het Urban Park met een mix aan cultuur, urban sports en leisure.
In de komende maanden wordt er geparticipeerd met de stad, waarna West 8 het toekomstperspectief zal actualiseren aan de hand van hun ideeën.

West 8 are proud to share the future perspective for ‘t Zoet: a uniquely lively district on the Mark as part of the city centre of Breda. Over the past two years, West 8 has collaborated intensively with the Municipality of Breda, the Province of Noord-Brabant and the Brabantse Delta Water Board on the future of the former CSM site and Haveneiland.
As a robust framework plan, ‘t Zoet is engineered to be developed in phases and move along with the dynamics of Breda. Consisting of various urban development axes, the framework plan both anchors and breaks down barriers within the city and station area of Breda, as well as connects to the surrounding districts. The design proposes a new green-blue network with a unique ‘Stadsgrienden’ system, that accentuates the view towards the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk church, a landmark of Breda. In addition, the Linkeroever Promenade follows the new waterfront on the Mark River and designates new dynamic spaces, the ‘Suikerplein’ and an Urban Park, with a mix of culture, urban sports and leisure.
The city and participants are now invited to participate and provide their ideas on the plan. In the coming months, West 8 will continue to update the future vision based on the findings.
