LANDinc and WEST 8 presented their ideas to the public on how to revitalize the ’70s pleasure complex of Ontario Place park

On 22 Jan 2014, Team LANDinc and WEST 8 presented their ideas to the public on how to remake the ’70s pleasure complex, Ontario Place park. Critic says, “its future looks brighter.” LANDinc and West 8 have taken up public input, proposed at the public presentation on Wednesday, a place for walkers and cyclists with plenty grassy areas where kids can play. The highlights here will be trees, rocks and vegetation that reflect Ontario province in varieties. The outdated 1970s pleasure complex will soon become a 7.5 acres dense mix of “forest” and open space which aimed at families.

LANDinc and West 8 have taken on board the feedback from the public presentation on Wednesday, which included creating a place for walkers and cyclists with plenty of grassy areas where kids can play. The highlights of the park will be a variety of trees, rocks and vegetation that reflect the Ontario province. The outdated 1970s pleasure complex will soon become a 7.5 acres dense mix of “forest” and open space aimed at families.

The Team proposed a future park that is fully connected to the larger urban landscape. It will incorporate the Martin Goodman Trail, the Trans Canada Trail and Lake Shore Boulevard with pathways which loop through the new facility. The Upper Park will be an “evergreen wooded area”. Running along the shore of Lake Ontario, The Lower Park will feature trees and shrubs organized around a series of open spaces. These will provide quiet outdoor area for Ontarians to escape the bustle of the city and grant visitors superb views north to the city and south to the water.

While there is still a long way to go before the park is ready for visitors, the plans presented on Wednesday have catalyzed a dialogue with the public around the site’s potential. People have until the 21st of Feb 2014 to submit in their ideas to the official website. The final scheme is planned to be available in March.

LANDinc + West 8
