
West 8 exhibits in Composite Landscapes: Photomontage and Landscape Architecture, Boston
Curated by Charles Waldheim, Composite Landscapes explores the representation of the montage view through the work of a select group of influential contemporary artists and a dozen of the world’s leading landscape architects.
Open to the public from the 27th June till the 2nd of September the exhibition features one of Adriaan Geuze’s seminal works on Schouwburgplein and a selection of influential images in digital format, which delve into the idea that nature could be harnessed in the city to create vertical habitats.
As a collection Composite Landscapes reveals practices of photomontage depicting the conceptual, experiential, and temporal dimensions of landscape. A product of culture the exhibition illuminates the contemporary status of the photographically constructed image for the design disciplines, and beyond.
The exhibition takes places Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum one of Boston’s preeminent cultural venues for landscape.
