West 8 Gives a Lecture at de Week van de Stad (The Week of the City) in Amsterdam

Edzo Bindels, partner at West 8, presents Madrid Rio, a large-scale project accomplished by West 8 in 2011 in collaboration with MRIO arquitectos, a joint venture of three Madrid based firms led by Ginés Garrido Colomero.

Madrid Rio is is a truly infrastructural landscape, in which part of the M30 ring road in the Spanish capital Madrid was tunnelled and roofed, and the city bonded back together on top of it. Bindels’ lecture will be followed by a reaction from Pieter Klomp (urban planner at the municipality of Amsterdam).

The evening is being organized within the framework of the Week of the City 2015, which has Amsterdam’s A10 ring road as its main theme. Moderator is Michiel van Iersel (Non-Fiction Cultural Innovation).

Tickets are available in advance during regular opening hours at ARCAM and on the night of the lecture from 7.30 PM at the door of the Academy of Architecture. Academy students have free admission on presentation of their student card.
