West 8 proud to contribute on the bid winning plan Made By Holland

On 8 June 2017 the Dutch Minister Plasterk announced that the consortium Made By Holland is the winning bidder to buy and develop the palace and gardens of Soestdijk, a 17th century Dutch country estate and former residence of the royal family. Soestdijk Palace will become a platform for innovation and excellent entrepreneurship, with exhibitions and events for a wide audience.

West 8 is proud to collaborate on the plan with a design for the landscape integration, which involves both restoration of key historical landscape elements as well as additions that support the new identity and programme of the estate.

The entire team MADE BY HOLLAND consists of four developing partners, Meyer Bergman, Westergasfabriek, Hylkema Consultants and Leeuwenpoort and incorporates contributions from West 8, Tom Postma Design, Tinker Imagineers, Natuurmonumenten, Staatsbosbeheer, Horwath HTL, Motivaction, Goudappel Coffeng and 4Building. Together we offer a platform for innovation in which new initiatives and alliances can flourish. Soestdijk will soon be providing space and inspiration for anyone willing and able to contribute to consolidating and boosting the Netherlands’ reputation as a country of innovation.

MADE BY HOLLAND is envisioned to be a place for everyone to meet, enjoy and spend time. The estate will be developed with full respect for its context, ensuring that its unique character remains fully intact. This will add a new layer to the iconic quality and exceptional beauty of Soestdijk.
