West 8 to feature at Stadt-Design.nl

Stadt-Design.nl is one of the celebrations during das Jahr des Architektur (or the Year of Architecture) in Cologne, Germany. From the 5th till 29th of April, the exhibition will take centre stage at the Museum für Angewandte Kunst Köln (MAKK) and will feature several projects with a focus on integral design. Amongst them, West 8’s project the Groene Loper-A2 will be presented.

The Groene Loper-A2 project exemplifies this notion of integration very well in that it transforms the current A2 zone into a connective space for the city. From North to South a green ribbon is created by connecting the city to its natural surroundings. Consequent ecological and recreational values will attribute to this green ribbon and to the adjoining urban area.

In collaboration with the NAI, the MAKK and the Netherlands Consulate-General in Düsseldorf, the Dutch Design Desk Europe (DDDE) prepared Stadt-Design.nl which proceeds from the idea of a Gesamt-stadt, combining academic, cultural and social perspectives. The idea behind the exhibition was shaped through interviews with Cologne-based architectural offices by the DDDE.
