West 8 to speak at the 4th Annual Bridges EU and Russia Conference on 21st March 2014
The 4th annual conference on “Bridge Construction and Maintenance in Europe and Russia: New Construction Technologies and Equipment”, will take place between 19th – 21st of March 2014 in Bordeaux, France. West 8 is invited to present in this 3 day conference which is organised by Construction IQ, Russian National Group of the IABSE and AMOST Foundation (Association of Russian Bridge Engineers).
At 2.00 pm on 21st March 2014, West 8’s representative Maarten van de Voorde will present his lecture titled: “Designing pedestrian bridges and understanding the poetry of human use”. This presentation will:
- discern the technology of peoples’ movement
- discuss artificial structures that can accommodate different flows of people
- analyse a number of West 8 case studies
Other speakers at this 3 days conference also include representatives from Zaha Hadid Architects, Ramboll, ARCADIS, ARUP, and many local Russian engineers with expertise in Bridge Design, such as Sergey Mozalev, Executive Director of AMOST Foundation (Association of Russian Bridge Engineers).
