
West 8’s IRMA LOGS greet visitors at Design Miami, Miami Beach
The 13th edition of Design Miami that, once again this year, brings together collectors, art dealers, designers, artists, curators and art critics from all over the world in a single large venue at Miami Beach, USA, is a celebration of the most influential international design culture and contemporary art.
In this year’s edition, in total 34 galleries are presented. Numerous scheduled events and exclusive expos of progressive cultural programming and collaborations with designers and design institutions, and unique commissions from the world’s top emerging and established designers and architects are being commenced.
Designed and produced by West 8’s team, this year’s visitors are greeted by a grand green temporary installation at the venue entrance outfitted with 101 wooden logs: ‘Irma Logs‘, made with recycled tree trunks debris of the recent hurricane Irma. At this entrance, visitors can contemplate in inspiring oval green spaces created by West 8. A dedicated Instagram page is created for Irma Logs here.
This temporary park installation also assembles the atmosphere of the future park to come. Over the next year, West 8 in collaboration with Fentress Architects and the City of Miami Beach are developing the design to transform the current parking lot into a public park for residents and guests to celebrate and enjoy South Florida’s weather outdoors, year round.
Numerous great debuts and talks are also being organized at this art and design expo. West 8 New York’s Creative Director, Daniel Vasini will present together with Lily Wong, landscape designer, and Rodman Primack, Chief Creative Officer of Design Miami, in a talk titled ‘A need for Green: Improving Urban Life with Plants’, on December 8 at 6:00pm-7:00pm.
