03/4/2021: Space Conquerors Park, Saratov, RU
We are is delighted to show the progress of Space Conquerors Park in Saratov, Russia. A project of cosmic proportions, the new global landmark is a place for ceremony, contemplation, patriotism, and education. West 8 worked at a variety of scales, from detailed material choices of the marble Wall of Fame and the design of Furniture to the masterplan-scale of employing the necessary infrastructure. West 8 has designed over 30 bridges for Máximapark. 2 new timber bridges have been installed last week. Located in the ‘Buitenhof’, the northern area of the park, they were installed by Contractors Van Wijk and produced by the Bouwloods foundation.

11/01-2021 Campusplein, Leiden
For the execution of the West 8’s design for Campusplein at the Leiden Bio Science Park, a 20m tall plane tree was moved by specialists from Copijn Boomspecialisten. With developing techniques, large trees can be moved and replanted with minimum damage. See a timelapse video and description of this ecology-friendly solution (in NL) here.
12/10/2020 Pudong Culture District, Shanghai
Construction is underway on the Culture District in Pudong, with the first wooden pillar on the Pudong Culture District waterfront installed on the 4th of December! Adjacent to Pudong Culture Park, Pudong Culture District includes several old and new public buildings like Pudong Library, Pudong Younth Center + Volkstheater (designed by Scenic Architecture) and Pudong Urban Planning and Art Museum (designed by David Chipperfield Architects). The green space around the new Urban Planning and Art Museum and the new Metro Plaza is on track to be complete at the start of 2021.
